Stop pretending ” god did it ” is any sort of an answer. The truth is, if it were that simple, your god would be an unimaginitive bore. Also, stop praying so fucking much. Is your god that hard up for attention that he wants you to keep telling him how great he is ? And does god have a plan or not ? If so, then why are you praying to him to help you get that loan/job/relationship ? Do you realy think that shits going to fit into your gods plan ? Do you realy believe that satan will be forever banished and gods will made manifest on earth, because you realy want thay new Toyota ?
Stop behaving as children. Grow the fuck up. /end rant
If you get a chance, stop by Laci’s youtube page and check out her videos. She’s a pretty smart girl. Here in a 4 part series she talks about her de-conversion from the LDS church.
If you are LDS and thinking of joining the church, take a look at a young woman who was IN the church, and why she just couldn’t take it any more.
When did Jesus change ? What happened to the long haired, sandal wearing, peace loving, help everyone, give of yourself, don’t judge anyone Jesus ? When was he replaced by the hard nosed, only people who obey him can have rights, right winged, judgmental, douche Jesus ?
The Jesus freaks that voted for prop 8 worship the douche Jesus. Apparently Jesus can protect their kids from sickness, and give them eternal salvation, but he can’t protect your child from the horrors of HOMOSEXUALITY !!! Nope, that you have to do through the courts. Forget about separation of church and state. Forget about the rights of the minority. None of that matters. If homosexuals can marry, then your children will become gay, and there’s not a thing Jesus can do about it.
At least that seems to be the pro prop 8 message.
We all tend to believe what we want to believe. Being skeptical means trying your best to not allow that to affect your judgment. As a skeptical person, I understand that I can be fooled. I understand that I can be tricked. I understand that the mind plays with us in ways that we are still struggling to understand. Being skeptical means to accept that these things happen. To be skeptical, you must embrace being wrong. It can’t be something you fear.
Of course A person can go too far with being skeptical. There has to come a point where I have to agree that either I will never know the truth, or that I have found the truth. If I allow myself to be overly skeptical, then I end up accepting nothing. Everything become suspect, even my own conclusions. At some point, I have to say ” that’s enough “. The question become, ” when ? “. For me, I borrow a little from Occams razor. The minute I start adding complexity to my conclusions, then I know I’ve gone to far. The minute I start adding more then what needs to be there, I know I’ve gone to far.
How about you ? How do you keep being skeptical in check ? How do you know when you’ve gone too far ?
From a good guy.
Yeah you heard me. Fuck you. Fuck you and your narrow minded hypocritical asses. Fuck you for putting money into taking away a persons right. Fuck you for not putting that money into helping people eat and have homes and clothes to wear. What kind of god would think that two people living together and calling themselves married is more important then helping the homeless or feeding a starving child ? What happened to ” Let all men worship according to the dictates of their own conscious . ” What happened to the attitude that you shouldn’t judge people ? What happened to empathy and compassion ?
Fuck you LDS church. Now it’s MY turn. You have no idea how much I’ve held back all of these years because I thought my old religion was more or less live and let live religion. Now my eyes have been open and I see the true nature of your bigotry. Now it’s on. I will corrupt your missionaries. I will plant seeds of doubt within your members. I will shine on them the light of your hatred and make it evident. I will take your god away from them and I will show them their true strength. I will remove the lies and hypocrisy and repression that you have put into them and I will set them FREE. Then THEY will go out, and THEY will corrupt your missionaries, THEY will plant seeds of doubt within your members, they will set others free.
Fuck you LDS church. Fuck you Monson. Fuck all of you. If you were afraid that your kids learning about homosexuals would corrupt them, you have no IDEA what I’m going to do to them.
Many of you know I used to be a Mormon. I went on a mission, served in the bishopric, etc. Whenever people ask me about the LDS church, I always shrug and say that I’m not worried about them. You see, to me, the LDS church has always been a very ” live and let live ” religion. Why did I think this ? Well their own articles of faith says just as much….
We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
So you see, to me, this is supposed to be about acceptance. In fact, for my whole life in the LDS church I was taught that it was okay to visit other churches because I would just learn how great the LDS church was. I was encouraged to bring friends to church but not to get pushy. It was okay if they didn’t want to come. Live and let live. Don’t judge. These were the lessons I learned.
Then a few days ago I read this article re posted on the Atheist Network. ” Mormons lead the way in financing anti-gay legislature. ” according to the article from the Sacramento Bee, Mormon members make up more then 40% of the financing. Some even took out loans on their houses to help finance their bigotry. My heart sank and for the first time in a long time, I looked at my previous religion ( even though I now reject it ), the culture that I was raised in, with shame.
It doesn’t make any sense to me. How can a person who believes that people have the right to worship and live the way they want to, be against giving others the same rights and privileges they expect in return ? To the LDS, the most sacred building that they have is their temple, where marriages are preformed in privacy and without interference. Now when homosexuals want to be married, the LDS want to interfere with the private, and possibly sacred ceremony of two loving people. Instead of allowing them the right to worship and live their lives, they seek to undermine them and to subjugate their rights. To me, this is hypocrisy, and the LDS should be ashamed of themselves.
So to all of you LDS members out there who are supporting this hate, shame on you. Shame on you for your hate, shame on you for your bigotry, shame on you for your hypocrisy. All of your fears about gay marriages are based on unfounded and ignorant fears. I can and have smashed every single argument against gay marriage. Its all based on crap. Nothing is going to change about your marriage if homosexuals are allowed to marry. Your kids aren’t going to want to become gay just because Mark and Tom got married. Nothing, absolutely nothing is going to change the importance of your PRIVATE and SACRED relationship.
Shame on you.
In the film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, narrator Ben Stein poses as a “rebel” willing to stand up to the scientific establishment in defense of freedom and honest, open discussion of controversial ideas like intelligent design (ID). But Expelled has some problems of its own with honest, open presentations of the facts about evolution, ID—and with its own agenda. Here are a few examples—
